Statement of Support for Ukraine
 
The National Theatre Conference condemns Russia’s unprovoked invasion of the nation of Ukraine. Tens of thousands of Russian and Ukrainian soldiers have been injured and killed. Over three million Ukrainian refugees (primarily women and children) have sought refuge in neighboring countries, forced to leave behind the infirm and elderly. In addition, millions of Ukrainian citizens choosing to stay and fight for their freedom have lost their lives or are now displaced within Ukraine, left without food, shelter, electricity, water, or basic supplies.
 
We unite with the Ukrainian people and call on Russia to respect international law and human rights and cease all hostilities. Furthermore, we encourage all peace-loving countries and individuals to welcome those displaced by war and ensure their safety and well-being.
 
Our sister organization, The College of Fellows of the American Theatre" drafted a strong response of support for Ukraine, which is also below.
