Stephen Rothman returned to his long-time
home of Los Angeles in May 2001 to begin his duties as The
Chair of the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance at California
State University Los Angeles where he also serves as the
program’s Artistic Director.
Best known by Southern California
theatergoers as the founder and artistic leader of the
revitalized Pasadena Playhouse, he has also served as the
Artistic Director of the Sacramento Theatre Company as well as
the Producing Director of Pennsylvania Center Stage.
Steve’s Professional affiliations
include his eight-year stint as an elected member of the
Executive Board of the Society of Stage Directors and
Choreographers (SSDC) the union he has been proud to be a
member of for twenty–two years. Other affiliations
include membership in The Directors Guild of America (DGA); The
Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers (ATPAM);
The United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT); The
International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plan as well as
his work as a Board of Trustee for the SSDC-LEAGUE Pension and
Health Funds.
